Clarins is one of those brands that I always figured was high quality, but while I was in school always figured it was for older women. Lots of neutrals, multi-purpose products, very skincare focused. None of that really mattered to me until I started working full time in an office. In the summer, the AC is blasting and I am cold and dry. In the winter the building is freezing so I have to turn on my small personal heater and then I am warm and toasty, and dry. Let's just say suddenly I cared a fair bit more about multi-purpose products. Oh and the other thing I care about for work? Pretty neutral looks. I've been playing with these products over the last month or two and am excited to be sharing my thoughts with you.

BB Detox Fluid

Let's start with my new favourite everyday foundation. This BB cream is light, comfortable, and so easy to apply. I like to apply this using a dense kabuki brush (I use Tarte's Airbrush Finish Foundation Brush in big circular motions, buffing it into my skin). Usually one and a half pumps provides decent coverage, while still letting my skin look and feel natural. I love the dewey finish and the natural glow it leaves me with. I think that this BB cream is the perfect base for a easy every day look-- add some bronzer (I've been loving Benefit's Hoola bronzer lately) and blush (I've been reaching for Too Faced Love Flush blush in Baby Love), touch up your brows and add some mascara and you are good to g(l)o(w).

This product retails for $44 and you can buy it at The Bay.

Super Volume Mascara

For an easy everyday work look I want my lashes to be defined and dark, but not over the top. This mascara gives me just the lashes I am looking for. Pretty, natural but noticeable, no clumps. Available in black and brown, with a big fluffy wand, I find I can't screw up the application when I am in a rush which is fantastic.

This product retails for $27 and you can buy it at The Bay.

Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil

My face, and my lips in particular have been feeling so dry this winter! I've been loving my Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil both to sleep in and to wear while I am out. The raspberry one tastes sweet and fruity, and leaves my lips with a pink tinge, looking fuller. The gloss is thick and a bit gloopy meaning it covers my lips in a pillow of moisture. It has a good wear time, and leaves my lips feeling better. I keep one of these in my purse and the other beside my bed!

This product retails for $25 and you can purchase it at The Bay or Sephora. I believe it is also sold at Shoppers Drug Mart.

Four-Colour Eyeshadow Palette

This eyeshadow palette is available in a few colours. I've really been enjoying its buttery texture and high pigmentation. While the brown palette is a bit dark for my liking on its own, it has some beautiful crease colours. I have a few single champagne type shades that I like to keep on hand to create a lighter look. This palette has a nice mix of matte and satin shades that wear well on me and my mom.

Swatches

I've also been using some Clarin's skincare lately so check back for my reviews of that soon!

Clarin's makeup is not readily available at Sephora. You can find some at Shoppers Drug Mart but your best bet would be a department store such as The Bay or Sears.

  1. I have actually never tried Clarins! My stepmum loves it though, I think I should give it a try.
