Hi everyone! I’m Jodi and I write about beauty with a side of tea over on Up the Rollercoaster - come say hi! Alanna is letting me take over her blog today as a part of the Canadian Beauty Bloggers guest post series with the theme of the month - pastels!

When I first saw the theme my brain instantly went to lilac purple eyeshadow, which I have been obsessed with lately. But the more I thought about it, the more I thought I should pushy myself a bit. So I took so inspiration from Chelle from Makeup Your Mind and attempted a colourful, yet still pastel smokey eye.

I recently purchased the Lise Watier Eden Tropical Eyeshadow Palette on clearance and it has the absolute perfect shades for a spring pastel look. It’d be super simple to amp the colours up another notch by applying a white base on the eyelid before the shadows too, but because the theme was pastels, I just applied a normal eyelid primer.

To start off, I placed Too Faced Salted Caramel in the crease as a transition shade from the crazy colours that would be happening into normalcy. Next, I chose the gold shade from the Lise Watier Eden Tropical palette and patted that onto the inner half of my eyelid. Next, I copied that technique with the teal on the outer half of my lid, also bringing the colour up into the Too Faced shadow to blend them together. I had expected to blend the gold and teal together and call it a day, but there was something about that green that was calling my name...so I took a smaller brush and tapped that colour into the outer v of my eye and brought it up into the crease to add some more oomph and depth.

To blend all of this together I picked up my fluffiest eyeshadow brush and picked up some of the lightest, frosty blue shade in the palette and blended that between the gold and teal shadows. The end result was a lovely gradient that I decided to mimic on my lower lash line as well to really smoke out the eye.

Now if you wanted to really glam up the look you could definitely add a cat eye, but I admit that I was a little afraid to mess up my eyeshadow work, so I stayed as close to the lashes as possible with my e.l.f. cream eyeliner in black. Instead of the flick, I added a whole lot of Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara and a well defined brow to balance everything out.

I have been obsessed with bronzer since about mid-February and have been actually skipping blush all together. I think that really worked in my favour with all of the colour on my eyes and lips, but a nice peachy pink would be beautiful too if you’re more into blusher!

And that’s the final look! How are you updating your makeup wardrobe for spring? Pastels seem to be practically falling out of mine!

Thanks for your post Jodi! I really love that eyeshadow palette you used. Such pretty spring colours!

  1. Jodi, I love this look! I'm always scared to go out of my comfort zone, but this look honestly looks amazing on you! I'm so scared of using color on my lids, but when I see it on other people (especially with Chelle!) I find it looks so lovely, and not as intense as I'd expect which makes me want to try it!
