benefit christmas sets 2017

Every year Benefit releases beautiful holiday sets at a great value. You can always expect to see full sized favourites at ridiculously good prices. Generally speaking, Benefit prefers to package up full sized products and deluxe samples, rather than release all new products for the holiday season. Keep reading to see my thoughts on all of their releases (in Canada) this year!

My favourites from this year's holiday collection include City Lights Party Nights ($42 at Sephora), Get This Pretty Started ($27) and Complexionista ($42).

benefit christmas sets 2017

City Lights Party Nights not only has a super cute light purple bag, but it has a deluxe mini Dandelion highlighter, valued at $20, a full size Precisely My Brow in shade 3 (my shade!), valued at $32, a deluxe mini They're Real mascara, valued at $16, and a They're Real lipstick mini valued at $14 for a total value of $82. The only catch is it is not really that value if you can't use all the products. Shade 3 is their most popular shade, and works for most people with fair and medium complexions. If shade 3 is your shade, I can't recommend this set enough. I would love to see them offer a second version of this set with maybe shade 5 for the brows so that way even more people can enjoy it. That being said, for me personally, this set is an amazing value and includes most of my favourites.

Get This Pretty Started is perfect for travel. I love that it includes both my favourite Benefit blush (Galifornia) and bronzer (Hoola). I am usually not a fan of mixing creams and powders in the same palettes, and would prefer if they had included Dandelion Twinkle. That being said, Watt's Up is a fantastic highlighter and I love using it on my eyes and cheeks. This palette is super cute, again, a great value, and easy to slip in my makeup bag or purse for touch ups or full faces on the go!

I love the magazine style of Complexionista. This $42 palette of minis includes both Hoola and Hoola Lite, Boing Concealers in shades 1 and 2, and Watts Up & Dandelion Twinkle. This little cutie is great for complexions on the go. In a pinch you can easily use Hoola & Hoola Lite for a pretty eye look, and then top it off with Watts Up on the lid and under the brow. But if we're being honest, 85% of my love for this palette comes from the stunning packaging.

There are of course no bad sets in Benefit's Holiday 2017 collection. You can check out my thoughts on the rest of their releases here:
benefit beauty and the bay set
Beauty And The Bay $49
Shoppers Drug Mart & beautyboutique.ca

This set presents an excellent value with a full size Hoola bronzer ($38),  full size High Brow ($30) and full size They're Real Mascara ($31). The added mini High Beam ($16) brings the total value to $115. This set is great because it is not for any one specific skin tone.

With a full sized BrowVo brow primer ($38) and a full size Total Moisture Facial Cream ($54), and deluxe minis of It's Potent Eye Cream ($9.20) and Instant Comeback Facial Serum ($10), this set comes wrapped up in a pretty teal tin with a total value of $111.20.

Hello San FrancisGlow $35

This set is exclusivley filled with deluxe minis that will make you sparkle: Dandelion Twinkle. High Beam, Dandelion Shy Beam, Watt's Up and a mini powder brush. Unlike the other sets with pretty, buy bulky, packaging, you can't exactly throw this out or stuff it in the closet come January as the star attraction, in my books, Dandelion Twinkle, can't exactly be easily removed. You can pop it out but then it has no packaging, so you really have to put it in a z-palette to be able to easily access it. This set would be a win in my books if it came in the normal deluxe mini packaging, but because it is literally just a pan, I think it makes the whole set awkward and avoidable.
