There are five days until Christmas. And, if you are reading this post then you are either the type or person who has finished her Christmas shopping weeks ago, or, hey, you haven't really started yet. The good news is you have five days. The bad news is you have five days. So with that in mind, I am here today to suggest a few last minute stocking stuffer ideas. Keep reading for some easy to find suggestions.
First let's lay out what makes for a good last minute stocking stuffer. First, it needs to be easy to get in store-- no leaving it up to the delivery services and no stressing over if it will arrive in time. These items must be easy enough to get in a store and not require a trek across town to a speciality shop. Second, it should be something the receiver would actually want. Third, if it can't be something they want, it should be something they could actually use.
The Drugstore
The drugstore is a treasure trove for last minute shoppers. From razors to toothbrushes, from chocolates to sunscreen for your winter vacation, they have you covered. Personally I am really picky with the razors I use, so I would suggest finding out what your recipient tends to use. If you share a home with her just snap a quick pic of the razor in question and ask a store associate. This is the perfect place to stock up on useful things for her. And bonus, they probably won't be sold out. I mean, its not like you are trying to find her a Hatchimal. If you are heading down south this winter, a fresh tube of sunscreen is always appreciated. I tend to toss sunscreen at the end of the summer, and a fresh tube means I won't run out when you need it most. I am a huge fan of these deep conditioner packets and use them all the time. They are great for travel! Back to toothbrushes-- I like to throw mine out every other month or so. And while I often check out some of the fancier toothbrushes, I tend to put them down and reach for whatever is on sale. I've been testing out the Truly Radiant Spinbrush recently and have been really enjoying it! Keep reading for the end of the post for a little giveaway!
Her Favourite Coffee Shop
Starbucks, Timmys, Second Cup, they all have the three things you need to make your recipient happy. 1) Gift cards! 2) Travel Mugs! and 3) Pre-packaged coffee or tea. Nobody is going to complain about a gift card to a place they go frequently. Now I can't speak for all women, but I am obsessed with cute mugs for my tea. I recently picked up this cute little polar bear mug at Starbucks and my only regret is that somebody didn't get it for me for Christmas. Starbucks has a cool promo on now-- they are selling a Christmasy travel mug for about $50, and every day in January the cup owner can take it to Starbucks for a free coffee or tea. Given that their travel mugs are usually a little over $20 each... not a bad deal. My dad is getting one of these for Christmas, but jokes on him because I got the stars ^.^
The Impulse Isle at Chapters-Indigo
This isle is the death of me, but can be your best friend when you are in a pinch. I was there yesterday and saw cute erasers shaped like macarons. I also found this really cool pen set and ended up buying it for my office's White Elephant Gift Exchange. I would be thrilled to get this in my stocking-- which is why I bought myself one too! They also have some neat wooden planters, cute sticky notes shaped like pandas, stickers, and head scratchers. What my mom may call "junk" I call thoughtful additions to any gift!
The Dollarstore
A haven for affordable finds, your local dollarstore is (probably) a great place to stock up on candy at. Candy is both cheap, and potentially large, making it perfect to take up some space in the stocking. You probably know her favourite chocolate bar or candy, I hope, and can grab a few to place in the stocking. They also have travel sized products, and wrapping paper and bows if you need it. I would look here for those things before venturing to a regular store. I saw a pack of ribbons and bows for $8 yesterday. Dollarama has something similar for $2.
The Grocery Store
You can probably get her a succulent, or a plant, or some flowers. You could also probably get her some lottery tickets if you are into that. But I was thinking of that sweet sweet gift card rack. Sephora, Starbucks, Sephora, Best Buy, Sephora, LCBO, Sephora... the list is endless. You won't have any trouble finding her something that she will love here!
Bonus Points
Get her a beauty experience! A spa day, your own voucher for her to design her own lipstick at Bite's Toronto Lip Lab, a massage, whatever it is just make a little "certificate" in Microsoft Word (or Powerpoint!) noting that you will pay for it come January. There-- you don't even have to leave the house.
I hope these suggestions help you in your last minute shopping. And hey, even if you finished your shopping, maybe it inspired you to pick up one more thing. Good luck to all my Canadian friends entering this giveaway!
