My needs when it comes to a hotel are pretty basic. Clean, comfortable bed. Easy enough to check in and out of. Honestly I am in town to experience what the city has to offer, not to stay in my room. That being said... when the room is really comfortable, leaving it can be kind of hard. Keep reading to learn about my experience at the Hotel Jay in Nice, France.

Upon arrival to Nice I sent a bunch of texts to friends and family that "Nice was very nice", or that I was having a "Nice time in Nice" -- and no, I won't apologize for the overuse of that pun. Once we arrived in our hotel we were greeted warmly and shown to our room.

The whole hotel is inspired by the roaring twenties. With Art Deco homage paid just about everywhere, no detail was overlooked. The phone, the wall paper, the gold accents, all transported me to a time not so long ago. But don't worry, the hotel is only inspired by the twenties. It has a working elevator, TVs in the rooms, and all the modern comforts that one would expect.

Our suite had a kitchenette, a seperate living room, a bathroom, and a big cozy bed. The bathroom was nice because the toilette was in a seperate room from the shower, which is great if you don't want your partner using the facilities while you are showering. The kitchen was useful because we could buy big water bottles at Carrefour (a grocery store) and keep them in the fridge overnight. One night for dinner we bought fruit, cheese, and meat and kept the leftovers for the next day. It felt so wonderfully French.

It makes such a difference when your bed has a few pillows per person. The bed was so comfortable that upon arrival we ended up having a nap!

From the window in our living room we eve had a tiny view of the ocean! On our second day in the town we walked down the street, bought a swimming tube, and hopped in the ocean.

It became clear to us just why the area is called the "Côte d'Azur" (Blue coast). Look at that coastline! I loved that our hotel was walking distance from the beach, and from a whole bunch of yummy restaurants.

Saving the best for last! Every day from 6-8 pm is Happy Time where each guest gets a free glass of champagne that you can enjoy in the bar or take back to your room. Talk about welcoming!

I also wanted to do a quick note about breakfast: breakfast can be served in your room or in the lobby, but there are no additional charges to enjoy it in your room. The night before you simply complete a form checking off the boxes that you wish. The menu is quite big, and so is the breakfast that they deliver at the time you request! I was a big fan of the fruit salad and the yogurt, though the scrambled eggs were also quite nice! PS -- they had hot chocolate on the menu.

places to stay in nice france

Hotel Jay is a member of the Happy Culture Collection. Happy Culture operates a large number of hotels across France including 8 in Nice. The Hotel Jay only opened this year and is their newest addition! Rooms start at 155 Euros per night.

Based on my stay at The Hotel Jay I would be delighted to stay at one of their properties again! Stuart and I really enjoyed our time in the south of France. Having been to Paris twice now I think it is safe to say that we would be delighted to return to France, but that we would be more likely to check out some other towns.

My stay at The Jay Hotel was complimentary however opinions are my own!
