John Frieda Beach Blonde Shampoo & Conditioner

Nothing like the perfect shampoo and conditioner to make every part of your vacation feel like summer, and to wash out all the sale and chlorine from a day in the sun.

A few months ago I grabbed John Frieda's Beach Blonde Kelp Help Deep Conditioning Masque while I was at Shoppers.  I had long since run out of my favourite (expensive) deep conditioner (Living Proof Restore Mask) and the ends of my hair weren't feeling the best.  I grabbed the masque because it looked new, it said it smelled like fresh mint, and it was on sale.  A recipe for success!  Long story short: I loved it.  And I came back for more!

While packing for Cuba I realized I was all out of shampoo.  I decided to switch it up from my usual and to try out the rest of the line, because hey, who doesn't want to be a beach blonde?

The whole line smells like refreshing mint.  Not only does the scent really wake you up and fill up the shower, but it makes me feel like my hair is getting cleaner.  I found that his Beach Blonde Cool Dip Purifying Shampoo did a great job at washing out the sweat, sand and chlorine from my hair.  I always rinsed out the shampoo feeling clean, but not like my hair had been totally stripped down. Soft, but very very clean.

Looking back I probably didn't need to bring both the deep conditioner and the regular conditioner, because his Beach Blonde Smooth Seas Detangeling Conditioner did such a great job!  It had the same yummy fresh mint scent (that left my wanting a Mojito) and again, left my hair feeling clean but well nourished.

Every few days I treated my hair to the Beach Blonde Kelp Help Deep Conditioning Masque.  This thick mask comes in a tube (rather than a tub, thankfully!), and has quite a rich consistency.  I focused it on the tips of my hair and then worked it up towards my scalp.  I let it sit in for 10 minutes while I enjoyed my minty shower and a much needed scrub down.  I love this product and plan to purchase it again in the summer when I run out!

I honestly was not planning to review these products.  You may have noticed that I tend not to review shampoos and conditioners other than in the odd empty post.  However I was so impressed with these ones that I had to share!  I really feel that these did a great job at washing the sand and chlorine out of my hair, while nourishing it from a long day in the sun.  Now that I am home, my hair is still long and strong, but also much blonder thanks to all the time in the sun!

I highly recommend these products and can't wait for it to be summer again!

Each of these products retail for about $12 at Shoppers Drug Mart.

  1. I looove mint scented shampoo! I don't know what it is about them but they're so much more satisfying. Have you tried the one from L'oreal? It's pricey but it smells so darn good.
I'm going to give these a sniff next time I'm out to buy shampoo for sure!

    1. I love how fresh they smell! I haven't tried it-- I actually don't really use L'Oreal shampoo but I'll give them a second look next time I run out :)

  2. I tried the shampoo last year while I was on vacation (I came across a travel size and thought "why not!") and really enjoyed it as well. I might have to check out that masque!
