Stila Aqua Glow Watercolor Blush Rosewater

Sometimes brands come out with innovative new products that you know you have to have.  Other times, brands come out with new products that are a little strange, and that you know you had to try.  This product was definitely the latter for me.  Something about a water based blush both intrigued and confused me.  Keep reading for my thoughts, swatches, and to see me wearing it!
I picked up Stila's Aqua Glow Blush in Rosewater at Sephora for $34 ($26 USD.  What is this price hike?!).  It comes in a heavy glass jar with a pretty frosted gold lid.

This product is part of Stila's Summer 2015 collection.  In this collection they also released some new Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks including Venezia, a beautiful orange-red.  I purchased and reviewed Venezia, you can read my review here.

When you screw off the cap you are left with a mesh net separating you from the product.  The instructions say to shake well before use, which is probably how I got all that product on the lid.  Rosewater is described as a "pale pink" with a bit of a shimmering glow to it.

The swatch on the left is straight from the lid, the swatch on the right has been diffused a bit with my fingers.

This blush feels very cool when applied.  It really is a soft and subtle wash of colour.  Nothing bold, nothing crazy, just a soft wash of colour.  I love the natural glow this blush creates.  Despite my initial misgivings about this product, I really do love it.  I find that it is a little weird applied over powder, but applied straight to the skin or over foundation is lovely!  I like to set it with HD powder and then some highlighter to really bring out that glow!

I found good results by using a small soft blush brush in short downward strokes starting about two fingers width from my nose.

Loving this.

I am really happy with this soft and subtle blush.  At first I was a but on the fence with the formula, but after giving it a go and testing it a few ways I can say that when used properly (ie: not over powder) these blushes create a beautiful glow!  I would love to add Shimmering Lotus to my collection!  Stila has also recently released some new eyeliners in this format that I am curious to try once they hit Canadian shelves!

What new make up products have you added to your collection lately?

  2. This looks so pretty on you! It's such a weird concept that I'm tempted to give it a try too, but I rarely reach for non-powder blushes.
