Located in Toronto's bustling Yorkdale Mall, Laura The Dress Shop has petite, plus, and regular size dresses all under one roof, and nothing else. With a nice mix of house brand dresses and other brand dresses you are sure to find exactly what you need.

With BCBG, Jacob, and countless other clothing retailers closed, finding the perfect dress at a reasonable price point can be tough. It feels like there aren't any dedicated dress shops left at the mall. I actually bought my prom dress at Laura (a few years ago!) and even in the height of prom season I found the options limited between Laura's regular business offerings. That being said, I did see this dress in the window and totally fell in love!
I tried on some stunning ball gowns at the dress shop a few weeks ago, and felt like a princess. I also tried on some sexy tight fitting black dresses, but I fell in love with this sparkling maroon number. I was impressed by how well the staff knew their dress selections, and how well they knew what would be flattering on my body type. I felt cared for, and confident in the dress I selected.
I have been wearing this dress to a number of parties over the last few weeks and have received nothing but compliments. People love the 3/4 sleeves, the lace, the sparkle. And the best part? It is oh-so-comfortable. Originally $228, it is now on sale for $169.
One thing I love about this store, and that has me recommending it to friend after friend is that the petite and plus sections are as fantastic as the regular section. I love knowing that my plus sized friends can walk into the store and leave with a dress that they feel beautiful and confident in. While I was shopping I saw a plus sized girl being guided through the the plus sized section with care and excitement. I loved seeing her glow as she found a dress that she loved. I think that every woman deserves to feel beautiful.
To take this dress from a dress to an outfit I am wearing my gold Kate Spade "One In A Million" necklace with my initial on it (a gift from my aunt last Christmas!), my new 32 mm Classic Petite Rose Gold Daniel Wellington watch with St. Mawes band ($225), and my Nine West blue velvet pumps (similar).
I love how the richness of the St. Mawes band works with the deep jewel tones of the dress and shoes. As for the shoes, I wanted something simple but elegant. I love how the velvet texture contrasts the glittering sequinned lace, but also how the deep blue complimented and contrasted the maroon dress.

Not to worry, Laura the Dress Shop is not simply a holiday pop up like I originally thought. It is here to stay! I can't wait to see what they have in store for prom season and wedding season! Laura The Dress Shop is a unique store: the only one like it! Hopefully this concept goes well, and they grow it to across the country!
